Mississippi has a rich history and is unique in the fact that it was once the biggest cotton exporter in the country. We continue to be a mainly agricultural state and are home to the Soy Association of America. We are one of a six state Monsanto study on glyphosate resistant weeds. The USDA-ARS has the Southern Weed Science Research farm in Stoneville, MS. The University of Mississippi, Oxford, operates the only legal marijuana farm and production facility in the United States. And, last, but not least, U.S. Senator, Thad Cochran (MS) is Ranking Member on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry. Mississippians have something to say about the future of agriculture and this is the place to become more educated about the specialized movement towards genetic modification of our food supply.
